  Team News

This past weekend in Detroit the Mission Girls U16 team
finished second in a USA-Canada Cup Series event.  Pitted against five of the top Canadian teams, the Mission finished pool play first among the American teams by winning three of their first four games.  The girls battled hard against the Toronto Aeros but lost a great game 1-0, then fought hard to beat Kitchener 3-2 on a goal by Bailey Larson with 3 seconds left on the clock. Saturday brought another pair of tough games, an 8-4 win over Stoneycreek and another high paced overtime win versus Brampton with Cara Piazza scoring the game winner.  The championship game had the Mission playing North Bay on Sunday morning.  North Bay outlasted the Mission in another fast paced contest, the fourth meeting of the year between these two high caliber teams.  Congratulations to them.  Five great games in three days, a great weekend of hockey, nice job girls!

U16’s  Survive Halloween Haunt

It was a dark and stormy night…..and the Mission U16’s took it on head first.  The girls went into the night unaware of what lay ahead, but as a team they were willing to take anything on.  Dressed for the cold (sort of) and looking fear in the eyes they entered the park and and just like the opponents they faced on the ice, they tackled it!  Flying hundreds of feet in the air, soaring at 100 mph, and spinning faster than anyone should, the girls had a blast.
