Gino grew up in
Riga, Latvia and played his minor hockey for the Riga Dynamo Hockey
Club. He attended college at the Latvian Academy of Sport earning a
degree in physical Education and hockey coaching.
While attending
college Gino began his coaching career with Latvia’s Birch Hockey
Club – the largest club in the country. In 1988 he was appointed
senior coach and director of hockey operations. Between 1992-1994
Gino coached the Latvian Junior National team and he was selected as
the head coach/general manager of Hockey Club Riga and then elected
President of the Latvian National Coaches Association. |
