It is a building Mission-student athletes
deserve. "The number one
priority since my arrival has been to build an
infrastructure that allows us to support the dreams of our
student-athletes. "This facility helps us
accomplish that goal, and is a huge step forward in
providing our players with a world-class experience."
To Head Coach, Larry Pedrie the dream of
a facility like the Mission Hockey Headquarters has been
just that - a dream - for most of his tenure at tier one
hockey. The man who has coached and led many teams over the
past 20 years, can't quite believe the building is a
reality.
"I still can't picture myself, and our
teams, in the building," Pedrie said as he and his staff
officially moved in this week. "It feels like we've been
talking about it for so long now. At first, we just wanted
to get a decent locker room, but this is beyond our dreams
and expectations. Our kids will have a chance to develop
academically, socially and athletically, because it's a
place they're going to want to be. It is just
another tremendous boost to our program."
When Mission student-athletes report to
practice this week, they will meet in their brand new locker
rooms, equipped with audio-visual aids, ample storage, and a
new fitness area large enough to accommodate multiple teams
at any time.
"We have been counting down the days to
moving into the new rooms," said Coach Anders Sorensen.
"When I saw the completed project, my jaw dropped open. To
be certain, I cannot wait to see the reactions of our
players and parents when they come in this week and see that
area truly become their home."
